Well, this is a bit late, but a summary of some things we saw over the last 2 weeks.

Look at the cutie collage!  Just a few of the adorable pets we saw over the last 2 weeks.  Some of them look a bit leery, but they were all excellent for their exams.

Over the past 2 weeks we saw a TON of allergies!

Check out the common signs of allergies below:

1. Scratching!  Animals can scratch themselves in many, many ways.  More than just putting paw to skin: Head shaking, rubbing against items, butt scooting, chewing, and licking can all be signs of discomfort.  Major focus spots for allergies are feet and ears.  This is because allergens accumulate on the feet and yeast can overgrow when ears get swollen.

2. Sneezing/reverse sneezing.  This can be a sign of other things, too (including nasal mites, gross!), so be sure to get it checked out.

3. Ear infections - as mentioned above, yeast and bacteria can overgrow when the ear becomes inflamed.

If you believe your pet may be suffering from allergies, contact us.  We can evaluate them and discuss all the treatment options.  Stay tuned for a blog post with the entire focus on allergies!

Show us your teeth!

Another major thing over the last 2 weeks - teeth.  We have seen a ton of broken or diseased teeth.  We always check teeth on our exam, but you can check, too.  Be sure to lift your animals lip and check the back teeth, which is where most tartar accumulates.

Signs of dental disease include decreased appetite, bad breath, and changes in attitude.

We hope you and your pets stayed dry these last 2 weeks.  Let us know if there's a topic you would like to know more about, let us know.
